Default Stock engine+Trickflow heads+boost=???

I know our motors don't like boost with their high compression. Trickflow has their boost friendly heads that lower compression.

Is anyone here running the stock motor with Trickflow heads and a bolt-on supercharger or turbo?

What's the new compression ratio with the Trickflow heads?

Would be cheaper/better to get Trickflow heads or lower compression pistons?

The out of the box heads are 64cc. TEA has an 72cc chamber that can be cnc'd into the heads for FI use. The 72 cc chamber would yield around 9.7-1 on a stock shortblock with GM head gaskets. The 64 cc is about 10.7-1.

aren't the stock heads 54cc and yeild 10:1 CR? if you got some 64cc TFS heads then I would expect the CR to drop into the mid 9's. 72cc chambered heads would prolly go into the 8's without a problem, but that's for high boost applications I would think. Dont quote me on this, it might be wrong. Someone else will chime in I hope to correct me.

The stock lt1 is 10.5 to 1

The LT4 heads had smaller 54cc chambers that gave the LT4 a 10.8 to 1 compression ratio.

dish forged pistons would be the most economic route,
for the price of the trick flow heads, u can rebuild your motor using
pressed type pistons along with quality bearings and rings,
if you are going FI, a rebuild and mill of the heads, with new springs and
a valve job and some quality rockers along with the stock type cam would
be good for over 550 bhp,
spend your money on your bottom end and some decent head gaskets,
head studs, and tune.

put a bottom end under it and you could make 500's on stock heads.

Whoa, the TEA guys don't even know the CC or the stock compression ratio of the LT1? That's pretty cool. I measured the CC of my stock heads and those of my spare set of heads both measured out at 54 CCs. Give or take just a little. Does Mike@TEA post drunk?

Yep I'll have another beer. My bad I was thinking trickflows for the LS-1 didn't even notice what forum this was posted in.Sorry. Let me try to reanswer that: stock compression being 10.5 -1 calculated with a 55 cc chamber, the 62cc TFS head lower it to 9.69-1. TEA also has a CNC Chmber we can put in the head that measures around 67cc which will yield 9.2-1.

I ran my stock engine with 8 psi and had no problems, well until I didn't catch it overheating, and blew a head gasket. But that was my mistake thermostat stuck and I didn't catch it until it was too late. You just need to make sure that you get a good tune and keep it inner cooled. Like stated above I would use the stock heads and just port and polish them, revalve them to 202/160, and some good springs. Forge your lower end. Unless you're wanting to go into high boost I would keep your compression around 9.3 that's good for a solid 10-12 psi. Just my .02

I have a 383 with trick flow heads to lower my the comp to 9.7 to 1, a ati procharger ds1-c 12.6 pounds of boost with twin intercoolers. @5900 RPM. 60 LBS injectors a fuel management system, a good cam and tons of little things. My car is running great the dyno numbers were 601.2 RWHP & 564.7 LBS torque. I am really happy with it I have not ran it at the track because i stilll have the factory rear end that i have broke twice already.
