I had a 1995 Z28 tank out and needed the pump for another LT1 car, when I got in there I could see why the gauge was going up and down all the time...stupid setup. My 2000 is setup alot better for fuel level and now that its got the LPE jet pump mod on a Walbro255 my injectors are allways fueled.

i took mine to Virginia Beach to work with me from MN and got 26-28 mpg on highway at 75-85 mph. i had 315 miles on the tank and when i filled up it only took 11.5 gallons. My guage said i was at about 1/4 tanks or just under. these cars have a 15.5 gallon tank if i remember right? i was doin' good i thought

Does sound like problem is in the cluster.
Up until recently, my trip odometer didn't work, while the ODO has always worked fine. It was PITA to fix, but it's working fine now. I actually used an aluminum pinion gear from a R/C car to fix it! I can explain how I fixed mine if anyone is interested.

Also, just like LT1MAN, when the actual amount of fuel is at 1/2 tank, the gauge reads about 3/4. When it's full, the needle is past full on the gauge. Never ran out of gas though... So I think the empty on mine is fairly accurate.

When ever I get a new car I am carefull and make sure I do things like change all the fluids and FILL the tank full to get an idea of what it will do and I am carefull to run it down lower and lower till I get to where I am filling it with what the book say it takes.

I got to tell you If I am only putting 10 bucks in a tank that takes $56 to fill I am not expecting to go far
if i knew the gauges were not working i would have filled it up it read 3/4 smart *** read the first post. damn guys always have to act like dick on the internet , i can be a smart *** too.... it only took 47 bucks to fill up after i put 2 gal.

I used to live with that damn fuel needle too.. but when my pump went out (about 2,000 miles ago) and I replaced it the thing decided to read almost perfectly. Never goes over F any more. 1/4 to empty still goes fast though.

do you think some of these peoples cluster needles are off? I mean has anybody changed face gauges here? You can put the needle gauges back on wrong, which would give you a incorrect reading. Since thinking about this, I wonder if any were off right from the factory?

My rpm is off, my temp guage is off, my gas guage is most likley off.
(I know RPM is off according to scanmaster as well as temp.)

Sent you a PM... Don't have an 'official' write up, but there is a lot of detail in the e-mail.

I stopped trusting my fuel gauge when I was left on the side of the road with an empty tank and the needle was on the 1/2 mark.
And my tach is 2-300 rpm off too. I think that's normal though.
