more performance opti spark died (ONLY 16 MILES)
Well i thought it was somthing in my newley built motor that died, but thank god is was not. When i started to look into it this weekend i pulled a vacum line to the opti spark and i saw white plastic chunks in the line. So i checked for spark and i did not have any. So i took the new opti out and heard this nice noise just like a babys rattel
. And chunks of plastic falling out of the pluge wire holes. Has any had this happen to you. I only put about 16 miles on it!!!! I emailed them and asked if they would give me a replacemnt but i have not herd back yet.So im happy that it was not my motor and i am also pissed at the same time that a 300dollar part would be such ****.

WELL THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT UNDERWARRANTY BECAUSE THEY DID NOT INSTALL IT
. So it looks like i am going to rebuild this hunk of ****. Has anyone rebuilt an opti spark..??? any advice...thanks

Has anyone rebuilt an opti spark..??? any advice...thanks well the problem is i bought it in january. when i order all of my other parts. i did not get to install it untill like 2 weeks ago. So the 90 days are up. I just tore the thing apart and the inside cap and rotor are completly melted and burnt up. It looks like one of the mounting plates inside of the opti has a slight bend to it. So im guessing that when this thing was rebuild or made that it was over looked.
The new cap and rotor was 140 dollars.
I am working on it as i type this
. If any one has any tips or things to look for while putting it backtoghether i would greatly apresciate it
. I hope i dont **** this up....well i cant do much worse than gm did.. :p

. I hope i dont **** this up....well i cant do much worse than gm did.. :p I talked to Brian over at pcmforless.com and he said that GM has sent out a batch of bad ones lately. I tell you what, Im feeling generous. I have been working thru a few swap issues on mine. I have 2 brand new ones sitting next to my bed. One is mine the other has to go back to the parts store. Both only have a few turns of the motor on them being as my computer died, Both were in sealed boxes per GM and parts store , lets say, with the intials AAP. If you email me and send me the old one , and really trust me, and the money to pay for delivery, Ill send you the brand new one in the box. But this all has to be done like overnight cuz I gotta give em back. Email me at blazer43@charter.net and we will talk about it
SO FAR SO GOOD. I put the rebuilt opti in and changed my plugs, iN all it took me and my friend about 3 hours to do the hole job. I got 25 miles on her now and she is running ok. Although i did notice a few things when i drove to work this morning.
1. When i put the car in neutaral and rev it. the hole car shakes until about 3000 rpms. Any ideas why?????
2. My engine light started flashing at me a few times and then stoped. when it started flashing the car would stumble. Misfires???

ok i checked last night with A tap. And it is showing that my car is only running on 6 cylinders. Number 7 and number 5 both had somthing like 3000 miss fires bye the time i got home. Could it be my opti crap that i just rebuilt. I also put aluminum foil around these wires cause i ran them a different way this time and they are laying right on the headers. can this foil cause a problem. I checked them this moring and they do not apear to be burnt.
