Default Roller Rockers

So I was looking at getting some 1.6 Roller rockers. I saw some nice Proform Self aligning ones with the regular 3/8 studs. Ive been trying to read around and search for an install, kuz i have no idea what im doing, but ive hear its just unbolt and retorque to 21 ft/lbs.

but i did read on one forum that its suggest to buy new valve springs, because there is a valve float issue with running the 1.6's.

So anyhow, Im just looking for some cheap easy HP, and i heard that RR's are a good way to start.

Also, are the proform Self aligning 1.6's good? they were selling for like 150$, which dont seem bad at all....

and if anyone has any informative pictures, or a link to an install, that could help too!

I'd suggest going with Comp Pro MAgnums.

You don't wanna skimp on these cause it's a bit of
a PITA to have to go back in and re-adjust them.

Do it right the first time! You'll thank youself.

no self aligning big difference. You need to set the preload on the rockers for the lifters. Typcially 1/4 Turn to 3/4 turn past zero lash

Installing rocker arms isn't too bad. You just do the ones that have the valve completely closed, then rotate the crank till the others are closed to tighten them. You want to tighten them while twisting and pulling up and down on the push rods just until they don't spin by your fingers. Then you do the 3/4 turn tighten.
What do you guys think about the trickflow rocker arms that have 1.5 for the exhaust and 1.6 for the intake? Does it seem worth it or is there enough reason to get all 1.6 RR's?

pm sent...

Anyhow, so im guessing self aligning are the only ones I should buy right?

I found some comp cams magnum ones on summit, part # 1418-16, then this a set that are RP1418-16 and they say Designed for use in engines equipped with factory hydraulic roller camshaft. Kit includes pushrods.

anyhow, are these good RR's? and which ones would I buy....

I figure if I can get some nice cheap RR's then I may as well try it.... the proforms seem to be the cheapest self aligning RR's out there, and even summit sells them so they cant be bad....right?

You definitely need springs as well. The stock springs are not reliable for anything other than the stock lift.

its pretty easy to do, I installed some nonself-aligning 1.65 ratio rockers and some Beehive springs about a month ago, runs like a scalded dog.

heres a link to my mini-project thread

I suggest going with a good set of non-self aligning rockers, like Comp Pro-Mags. Reason being is because self-aligning rockers are lift and rpm sensitive, so if at some point down the road you decide you wanna do some more power mods like a cam swap, you won't be limited in your choices. My $.02.

I know this is an old thread but what did you go with and how did it work out....if your still a member.
The reason I'm asking, I have a set of SA Proforms waiting to go in along with the 26918 springs.

I have those full roller pro form POS. They suck. The rocker housing rubs on the polly lock. Poor quality. They are getting swapped this winter.
