Default MSD Coil...

My 97 Z28 ran fine but had a little miss down low so I put a new MSD coil (MSD-8231) on it. Now the miss is gone and it runs a little bit better, but after a few miles of driving it the SES light came on. The opti was recently replaced (two in the last four months - the first one was defective) and has new NGK plugs and 7mm wires, and new fuel filter. I like the way the miss is gone but if I've gotta, I'm going to just put the old coil back on.

Any suggestions?

Aren't factory wires 8mm? Not that I can see that causing the SES light.

+1 for taking it to a parts store that checks for free. Checker, Shucks and Kragen offer free checking too. Checker is in the Midwest, Shucks is in the Washington area and Alaska, Kragen Cali and Arizona areas.

No...I just installed Taylor Spiro-Pros (8mm), and I couldn't reuse the factory plastic brackets.

No, the stocker are 7mm. I reason why I went with 7 instead of 8mm was that I read the 8mm were hard to route through the stock wire brackets. Turns out the 7mm were a bitch anyway and I should have just gone with the 8's. Oh well.

You actually just need to use zip ties in place of them. You put one around them all, loose, then in between each wire you put one just around the zip tie. Tighten them all down, and it looks like a wire bracket then My buddy taught me that.
