Default 383 Stroker?

Hey guys I wanting to build a 383 but Im not sure on some things. Will I have to get a 400 balancer and a different flexplate? Also what size injectors should I run it has a cc306 cam and ported heads already.

no, LT1 balancer and flexplate. you'll probably want 36#'ers depending on the heads.

Thanks man that will save me some money by keeping the stock stuff. Where is the cheapest place to buy injectors?

What injectors are you using now? If they are at least 30lb you will probably be OK. A side note for your CC306. This cam generally won't clear the rods in a stroker. You may have to go with a small base circle cam.

The injectors are stock as of right now. So since I don't have to buy a 400 balancer It will have to be internally balanced right? So the 306 cam won't work on a 383?

i'm not for sure on the 306 cam. but I do know that I went with a low base circle cam when i went to 383. Also it's always a good idea, after you get your lower assembly (kit or individual parts) send it off ar take it to a local shop with the flexplate/flywheel and balancer that you're running and get it all rebalanced. And you might as well go with the 36# injector so you can have a little growing room.

So does anyone know if the 306 cam will work with the 383? What would be the reason for it not to work?

My son had a 306 in his 383. He took all his parts to the machine shop and had everything clearanced. That is all it takes. Buy the parts you want to run and a machinist can make them work. How much hp do you want to make? I made 411 rwhp through an automatic with a hug converter so that is well over a 500hp motor all on 30lb injectors and they weren't even maxed out.

Im would like 500 flywheel hp I just found a rotating assembly I think Im going to buy. It has a SCAT 9000 crank, SCAT 6in. Forged I beam rods and forged pistons with rings, bearings, flexplate and dampner. So now I won't have to worry about getting it balanced all I have to do now is get the machine work done and clearance it. So is there a formula or somthing to figure out what size injectors I need or will 30lb work?

Not exactly. It really depends on the rods being used
