Default Im stumped...please help

ok this is on my gf's 96 Z28(DAMN LT1 PROBLEMS THATS WHY I SWITCHED LS1-haha j/k i somewhat miss my lt1..)

the car is an auto and has a shift kit(dosnt really matter but ok)

about a month and a half ago it started doing this wierd *** thing starting

it will start as in run for about 1 second and then die....sometimes i could do this for hours sometiems it would start in about 2 times....

some things that make it start faster or sometimes make it start right then
press the gas(yes no carb but it works for some reason)
Lock the car then unlock it
we foudn out if you press unlock any more than once than it woudl never start...
now it is just getting worse...it does this everytime and she will just have to **** around to get it started...

check engine light is on but for a low reading on MAF(i dotn think that coudl be doing this)

so my predictions as of now are
something with the VATS system is royally screwed and its cutting fuel after prime of fuel pump
its an LT1(haha sorry)
i dont knwo what else but i need to get this fixed anyone else have remotely this problem...i never had anything of the sort wrogn liek this on my lt1 and im out of ideas

my 94 had similar problems when i first bought it. my problem ended up being the ignition switch on the column under the dash.

I would guess VATS just because of what you said about locking/unloaking the car not making it want to start.

Also check the wires on the coil. When it does that wiggle the wires to the coil

yeah but that would not make the car start and then die every time and then randomly start...i could see the coil or the wires thing happeneing if say the car never started and then randomly started

Thats kinda my guess, something having to do with the security.

Definitely address the MAF too. It could be adding fuel to the fire. In my experience, a properly working MAF is crucial to getting started!

just unplug the maf sensor! if you still have prob then the maf is almost surely not your problem.
when you unplug your mass air flow sensor before you turn the car on, it will go into speed density mode not requiring the maf at all -but you will have the light in the dash still.

Yeah what i420tom said. I don't guess I explained that really well. A failed MAF could cause some hard starting, etc so unplug it to test it out.
