400rwhp is VERY doable and has been repeated numerous times on daily drivers. good head/cam, exhaust, throttle body, injectors will get you there. for reference, the LE3 package will get you around 420-430 at the wheels. Lloyd Elliot, Advanced Induction, TEA, all are very reputable head porters that have great packages that have all been proven. do a search on this board and you'll find all the info you want

Don't get carried away, you don't need and LE2 or LE3. I'm doing it with a LE1 package.

You will need injectors, tune, LT's, intake, elec. w/p, rr's.

I'm not sure you should run the LE3 on a stock shortblock so it'd be a good idea to rebuild to handle the extra power. More cubes also make bigger cams more streetable so upgrading to a 383 wouldnt be a bad idea. 383 + LE3 + Dyno tune + all boltons should make 400rwhp very streetable

LOL this thread is way off yes an LE2 set-up will get you the 400rwhp using the stock untouched block, but you will also need bigger injectors 30-36# and bigger throttle body 58mm will help. rear gears 3.73 if auto. these are needed to help calm the cams and a stall converter 3000 stall should be ok and custom tuning. The LTs and TDs are a good start but you still need a little more.

more than you would spend doing heads/cam.

you can do it, just do an LE1 setup and you'll get close.

Well the question is why do you want the rwhp number. just for show or 1/4 times. you could get a 150 shot and have that or just do all the bolt ons you can and come close then all you would have to do is just get the H/C to be there and above. A SC will cost just as much and still needs bigger injectors. and good tuning. so by the time your done it will cost the same but do more damage to your stock block. What should do is find the site of head porters everyone posted eportworks.com port-pros.com Totalengineairflow.com and send them some emails of what you want to accomplish and what you want to make it with just be very specific I am sure they can help.
