Diesel has quite a bit of lubricity compared to alcohol, which has little or none. This is to avoid drying up parts of the fuel system. However I didn't know of anyone mixing it with a spark ignition fuel (diesel is compression ignition).

That I all knew, and the last is why I couldn't figure out the point. Diesel just burns way too hot. I didn't figure anyone wanted melted pistons

I'll just repost this incase no one goes back to page 2.

"OK Worst case scenario for me running E85 with 25.5# SVO and my current tune I have."

I plan on going out right now and grabbing something to eat, and I need some gas anyways. So I figured I"d put in $10

you can prolly add 4 or more gallons but runninin it just on e85 prolly a bad idea. check engine light will trigger. retardin the timing etc. creap up on it see what it can handle. 50% is about it for a stock tune. some cars get a check engine after only a few gallons of e85. others only need a few gallons of gas to keep the light off. if you get a light just add more gas till it goes out. oh itl clean ur chambers and fuel sys.

I was on the Chevy "E" (Where after 1/2 a tank it just drops to E after a few miles) and put in 4gals of E85. $2.39 as apposed to $2.89 for 87oc. My check engine comes on anyways because of my right O2 sensor. I have yet to get back under and try to change it since I got an impact. When it came on, I scanned it while driving (I have a sweet scanner that is like data logging, it can if I had the PC link) and it was still the same ole 2 codes Right O2 Lean and Lean Error.

As far as performance, I didn't get on it much before getting the gas since I wanted to make sure I GOT to the gas station lol I left home with 1/4 and got there on E. Anyways, I know that Fossil 110oc gives more poop and better throttle response, I didn't really notice much with the E85 100+.

And I must appologise for my previous ignornace. I was under the assumption that us great plains states pretty much ran all E85. I guess we only run like 10-15% at the normal pump.

Default ull need a good basline

ull need to fix that o2 sensor to judge You wont get your timing adv while the light is on.turbo blue has tulene in it and has a bit more pop than pump gas not just octane. it should still have smoothed it out a bit though.

You're right, it does need to be fixed, but @ WOT the O2s aren't used. I don't know if it's turbo blue or not, but our 110 has a pretty purple tinge to it.

Your getting the lean code because the computer can't richen it up as it thinks it should.

I would THEORIZE that if you filled up with E85 and cranked the fuel pressure up you could get rid of the light.

the lead ash in many 110 race fuels can contaminate o2 sensors and especially cats.

I don't run cats but I can vouch for the O2's being vulnerable to leaded race fuels. I had a buddy who clogged up his cats with leaded fuel. Luckily he finally blew the **** outta his and there were no long term effects.

I know all about how 110 can effect O2s and Cats. I've only ran it in my car once since I've had it. $4.75/gal isn't cheap

Cheaper than I've seen it. Last fall when I was at the track, it was like $6.

It's ALWAYS tons more expensive than the pump. It used to be 3.75 before the gas hikes. I THINK, not sure, it used to be 2.75 then before that.

I dropped down to 4gal of 105 oct e85 for octane boost and 10 gal of 87 =92 oct for road trips. car is programmed for prem unl 93. found this esyer than reflashing all the time. if i cant find e85 I use prem unl, untill i get a steady supply again. and i dont worry about pump lube

so far the only people i know that dislike E85 are those that do not use it/never have used it. Tons of mis-information and people repeating half of what they read on the net. You don't "loose" power running E85, you just need more of it to get the same a/f ratio. Everyone I know has made more power on e85 vs. pump fuel, even N/A applications (timing and fuel adjustments are a given). Premium fuel down here is over $3.29/gal, E85 is $2.49. My car is turbocharged and it runs great with E85, i really down care AT ALL that fuel mileage suffers a bit. It's a performance car! Besides 110 fuel is over $7/gal so there is NO comparison. Most cars built since 1986 can handle E85 with no issues other than tune.

Stop reading/repeating hear-say

I talked to bryan from pcmforless awhile ago. I asked him if he had programmed any lt1s to run on E85. he said he had tuned some local ones and said hed be willing to tune mine. He said the great thing was that its o2 friendly and gave more umph and had less detnation. BUT he said when he tunes it theres no meet in the middle where i could run both, its either tuned for e85, or tuned for premium. he said when he tuned for e85 he would tune with a 10:1 A/f ratio. i thought it sounded a little over kill but he tunes them not me. Also i said id like to up to 30# injectors with the mods i had and run e85. he stated that hed feel more comfortable with me running i think he said #38 racetronix. so that goes to show how much more fuel is used running e85 then reg fossil fuels.
