Default cheap headers

I'm about to pick up an LT1 camaro with intake and a flowmaster. I want to put a set of cheap longtubes on it, a cold thermostat and a pcmforless tune.

What is a good brand of headers? I'm looking at pacesetter or hooker right now. Is there a cheaper set out there that isn't total junk? Does anyone have a used set they want to sell?

With just those bolt on mods, will the stock clutch hold the power?

Pacesetters would be a great choice if your on a budget. I would suggest getting them coated but painted would be fine for at least a few years where you live. And btw ditch the flowmaster and get magnaflow
Not sure about the clutch b/c I've only had auto f-bodys.

pacesetter is so k. but thier coating is thin it peals off the y pipe in a few years. think you can get pacesetter straigt from jet hot with a nice thick coating. LT's or shorties?

Don't waist your time with shorties. You'll only get minimal gains. The longtubes are an excellent upgrade for an LT1 car cause the stock exhaust manifolds and ypipe suck!
BTW the pacesetters are one the most PITA headers to install on an LT1 fbody
But you can't beat how cheap they are.

I'm only gonna have the car about 1.5 years, then it's getting sold or traded for an 09. That being said, I am cool with getting painted headers vice coated ones. I do want LT's though, no shorties.

My goal is to own a consistent 13.0 car for under $5500. I'm spending $4500 on the car, and it already has intake and exhaust. I might ditch the flowmaster muffler for a different one though. I already have a set of mickeys too.

As far as gaskets are concerned, I can use regular SBC ex. gaskets, right?
