Default 155 mph speedo swap???

Just wondering what all I'll have to do to swap a 155 mph speedo into a 94 formula? Any help would be nice. Again, I was just thinking about doing it soon, but didn't know what I'd have to change. By the way would i have to tune the computer for that as well?

you don't need to change anything, just take out the old cluster and put in the new one. no tuning required either.

Yep, unbolt the under side dash cover, remove the trim bezel around the cluster, tilt the steering wheel all the way down and its 4 bolts holding the cluster in, pull the old one out and put the new one in. Really easy swap

Not quite. 93-94 cars that came with z rated tires from the factory had the 155 and no speed limiter. Cars that had something else had the 115 cluster and 108 speed limiter.

You can swap the analog gauges without any modification, however, this will not change the limiter set on the car, that will have to be adjusted in the PCM.

Thanks everyone for the information, I was wondering that for a while now. And Infinitebird your right about the Z-Rated tires w/ a 155 mph speedo I read that too on a site somewhere. And yeah mine has a 115 mph speedo with a 108 speed limiter. It sucks b/c it doesn't take long to hit 108 when u drive like I do. But I'm getting PCMFORLESS to take care of that after my 3.42 rear end swap. Thanks Again everyone!

Well, you can swap your current odometer into a new cluster. It's not that hard.

oh really? I've never taken the cluster apart. I thought it was all one unit and I could not take the odometer out.

Just curious does the 155mph speedo have to be from an LT1 car or can I use any 1993-2002 155mph speedo. Getting ready to do the swap real soon.... thanks for any replies.... James

F-body
1993 LT1s can use 1993 LT1 Clusters, tach wont work with a 94-97 Cluster.
1994-1997 - Can use any cluster from 93-97 with out issues. A lot of guys swap to the newer 97 style.
1998-2002- Will not work correctly in a LT1, if you want that style, you have to use a 1997 LT1 cluster.

115 Vs 155

Cars that don't have RPO code "QLC" for the Eagle 245/50/16 GS-C Z Rated tires got the 115 Speedo. These cars didn't get the performance package, which came with upgraded 3.23s from 2.73s in autos, and oil coolers, RPO code "K4C." All 1993 Trans Am came with the performance package, later called the GT in 1994, came with the high rise spoiler, 155MPH speedo and so on. The Formulas and Z28s how ever didn't come standard as such. After 1993 all six speeds came with the standard 3.42s, 155 Speedo and so on. How ever in 93, the Z28s and Formulas had two six speeds, an M28 with 2.73s and a M29 with 3.23s, all TA six speeds were M29 "wide Ratio," cars. Not necessarily the case with the Formulas and Z28s. I believe in 1996 the high rise spoiler was once again standard equipment.
