yeah that makes sense Mike.... I think his car ran like 142 or so when he ran low 9's... and I KNOW it was very light cause he had a fiberglass dash, doorpanels with the side impacts removed, etc.... I think it was like 3000 even.... so it probably made in the 580-620RWHP range.... but that was thru a TH400 and a stall.... puts him real close to what Dave made if the car had a T56... (I lose 50RWHP from a T56 to a TH400 with no other changes) If I had to guess i'd say Joe O's car made like 600ish RWHP....

I think Joe's car made 578 rwhp if I remember correctly. That was from Joe himself.

door panels, crash bars, bumper supports, stock battery, AC, radio, speakers, power windows and locks (I think), full interior including rear seats, all stock wiring, water tank for intercooler, intercooler, full 3.5" exhaust and muffler, turbo, turbo plumbing, BOV, WG, Meth injection, stock A-arms, cast iron 9", etc. . . not sure if he has glass in the car either, or a steel hood. You can get 700 lb out of it, but you gotta' pull out alot of stuff.

Yeah but most of that you gotta keep. Your turbo system is a lot. I guess that's why you just turn up the boost! But I wasn't really referring to your setup. I just mean in general how some of these guys can shuck so much weight is unreal. I guess a lot of it is money too, like Lexan and whatnot.

My car was 3550 raceweight before I completely re-engineered everything with this latest round of mods... I figure I got rid of about 300-400lbs.... Still have full interior, the windows still roll up, no lexan... What I did remove though was heavy. Removed pass side airbag, removed all HVAC ducting and stuff from under the hood, gutted all stock wiring, swapped to tubular k-member and a-arms and swapped to QA1 front shocks, manual rack from a power rack, removed power steering pump and bracket that holds alt and PS pump, removed ABS block, got rid of power brake booster, got rid of mufflex 4" and replaced it with dynomax bullets and turndowns off of collectors, swapped front brakes for aerospace drag brakes and billet calipers. (a TON of weight).... Went to racing seats, swapped draglites to bogarts, removed upper panhard bar...

700 would be really tough to do.... That would make your average 3600 lb f-body down to 2900... good luck with that without ravaging everything in it....

Just looked up those Aerospace brakes. Not a bad price on those. How much lighter than stock brakes?

Not sure how much lighter than stock but they weigh about 50lbs less total than the Baer's we use for the street. That's total between both the calipers and rotors.

Outlaw: This is a dumb question but...when I see the term "raceweight" on here and in magazines, is that with or without the driver? Thanks.

Nice Dave! Maybe one day we can meet you at the track. And maybe one day you, Steve and I will all have running cars! I just spun a bearing so I'm tearing down again!

yeah raceweight is with driver like Tony said......

Aerospace brakes are like about 50 lbs less than stock I believe..... stock calipers and rotors weigh a ton..... In the front end it's pretty easy to drop about 200 lbs if you're running a 80 percent track 20 percent street car and you can deal without power steering and other creature comforts....

In my LS1 turbo car, I'm gonna run Aerospace brakes, UMI or BMR K member and lower A arms, Strange shocks/springs, and complete HVAC delete. I'm gonna run power steering though simply because I have a low mile rack sitting there and a manual would be another $500+.

Well, we weighed it on the corner scales today and I'm sad to report it's WAY heavier than I thought. 3670 without me and I weigh 200. That's with lightweight brakes, drag wheels and tubular suspension everything.

That's the problem with having a machine for street, road course and drag. Too many components for all three. Oh well...

Luckily there is room for a diet. VFN rear hatch for one. That hood in the pics is the factory steel with a cowl grafted on (there wasn't one avaiable when we made that one). It had 15gallons of fuel in it. I can replace all the braided line with prolite hose All in all I may be able to get another 100-150 lbs out of it but it will still weigh 3500+ without me

Gonna go to the track anyway. On the good side, weight distribution is exactly 50/50.
