Default Does the opti-spark need to be installed a certain way to work?

Does the opti-spark need to be installed a certain way to work? Does it have to be installed at a given point of crank rotation?

The opti is oriented on the cam so the engine does not need to be at TDC.

Thanks. It's a non-vented and I did not install the opti. I'll go ahead and check it.

What I was trying to say is has to be oriented properly on the CAM shaft. OPTI can and have been installed incorrectly. I've never installed a non-vented opti( I worked on a buddies '92 but we did the conversion using a 95 timing cover and vented opti.)

Yes it can be installed incorrectly. The little splined shaft is keyed, but can be forced on. When installing the opti it should be flush with the timing cover. Do not pull it flush with the mounting hardware. If it will not sit flush, the splines are not aligned.
