looking for a lt4 block$$!!!
It is the same exact casting as all the other LT1 blocks even the one in grandma's Caprice wagon.
splayed caps are expensive and often not necessary
talk to a reputable engine builder or run your combo by some of the guys here (Chris S aka Z8s would be a good one, or Jim Moran @ speed inc to name another)
What made a LT4 engine was the head, intake and valvetrain package as well as a few other nuggets here and there.
Get a LT1 block and have your shop convert it to 4 bolt mains. Splayed is nice but quite un-needed below say 500 HP.

I kept thinking "There is no LT4 block" but you hit the nail on the head right there.

I love when everyone tries to be smarter than everyone else
like I said an LT4 (referencing an actual LT4 engine) IS a 4-bolt LT1 block
seriously, I should have never posted as I full well knew that more and more would post all of us saying the same thing
it's like asking 'what will it run' . . . pointless
let's just hope our thread starter managed to follow us long enough to get a useful answer
I kinda agree w/ 96capricemgr about the 2 vs 4 bolt, but seems most folks value a 4-bolt block as a "need"
anyway, off me box, just my .02 if it's even worth that . . . damned inflation
Difference between the Corvette LT1/LT4 is the Intake, Cam, Heads, Rockers Arms, Rocker Studs, Crank, Timing Set, Valve Springs, Pistons, no EGR, Plug Wires, and if I left anything out fill it in..
Difference between a F-body and the Corvette is the Mains and the Rails, everything else is the same. The Factory replacements had 4-Bolt Mains.
I had a 4-Bolt Main in the LT1 that I sold, it came from a 1994 Corvette.
I guess it depends on your application for the Mains, and how strong you need them. My new Engine has 6-Bolt Mains..I suprised me a little bit when I found that out, I didn't know that until I started doin some in-depth research.

That Block can take a 4.100" Crank with out clearancing it.
i'll sell you one
