Opti-sparks

yup, me and my friends jumped the camaro off yesterday, cleaned it up and bit and went to south of the border to get some fireworks. Last night I got some cleaning stuff and picked up some simple green and just finished cleaning up the engine bay. I tried not to soak the front of the motor but it had to be cleaned, there was grease caked on there really bad.

so anyways, I go to try and crank it, no luck. its acting like its flooding so I guess I'll have to let it dry out for a bit then go for it again =/

Damn you opti-crap!!!

you shouldve shoved a few rags between the top of the cap and the waterpump. when i sprayed mine i had water channeling like that down the front but my opti was covered with a plastic bag and rags.

Its strange (and I guess I am lucky)...I've washed my engine many times without any issues with the optispark.

Cool.

Whatever "engineer" designed the opti spark at least needs to have his head hammered.

yes the opti was a horrible idea, works well when it wants to but they're just too temperamental. Might as well have gone with a distributor.

Lets write a petition to have all 93-97 cars recalled and fitted with coil packs

GM High Tech Performance just had an article a few issues ago about replacing the opti with the coil packs. If you want more info, I can pull the rag out later, just let me know.

BTW, Opti is why I went with an LS1 and passed on the LT1 back in 2000.

They make coil pack conversions for LT1's but they don't have good track records. GMHTP did a writeup on one and couldn't even get it to work right. Lots of missfires.
