lt1 into an 87 ta will it fit?
Keep in mind, that Impalas LT1 MAY be a Baby 4.3l LT1. Will still be better than the motor in the 87, unless you have a 350 TPI, in which case it'll be close to the same, but the TPI will make about 40 more ft/lbs. If your car doesn't have a motor, or is blown, that's another story. The transmissions should bolt up, but you'll want to either run your stock one, or take the 4L60E and the WHOLE wiring harness from the Impala and put into yours.
If the Impalas motor is cheap/free then go for it. But you'll need all the wiring for the motor, which will include the transmission. So my FINAL answer is get the motor and trans and all the wiring. You'll need a modified trans cross member for that 4L60E (80% sure)
he Impala LT1 is no different from any of the other b-body LT1s meaning the same as a cop car one(were available with the 4.3ll99 but LT1 was optional) or grandma's wagon. So do not pay extra for "Impala" parts.
It will fit fine, a friend has a LT1 in his 91 RS first with a 4L60E and now a T56.
I figured the Impala got the 4.3 and the SS got the 5.7.
so they are barely functional and stock for stock a step backwards from the drums. Honestly those are the highlights.A lot of people cry foul when I say the stock Impala rear discs are a step backwards from the standard Caprice drums, trust me had both in the same car. GM was too cheap to make a proper disc proportioning valve so in normal light driving the rear discs barely apply. Guys have figured out how to modify the prop valve and make the discs function properly at which point the discs perform as they should.
People love to put it up on a pedestal it does not deserve.
