I really like the sound of flowmaster. Can someone please explain to me why flowmasters are universally regarded at crap?

I used to have a hooker CB but it was too quiet. I had an SLP loudmouth but it was too loud.

There good systems, but not as high tech as most others. They're definately not crap though because its better than having a stock one. A big turn off for me was when I was looking at the different exhaust systems and they were not stainless steel. I'm pretty sure that flowmaster only makes stainless steel tips and now whole stainless steel exhaust systems. What series muffler do you have?

I have actually heard otherwise. I have heard a hp lose due to the restrictive baffles in the flowmaster. they have the baffles to make their signature sound but cause more backpressure.

I love my magnaflow. stainless steel and sounds great with long tubes and ory

I never knew that.. Thats definately intersting though. Does it actually take away horsepower, or does it add, but not as much as it could?

They make stainless x-pipes and single bullet mufflers. Just like anything else you'll have to fab it up but yeah.

That is what I have heard also. I would love to see a heads up dyno test to prove it.

not sure, this is all hearsay but it makes sense. A comparative dyno would be nice.

the only company that makes bolt-on true duals for the 4th gen is bassini(sp?), and they are made to hook up to stock ls1 manifolds.

Here is my LT1 with a TSP Rumbler cat-back. Its a transition vid, from manifolds/no cats/exhaust leaks/catback to longtubes/catback.

Remebering the b-body LT1 cars were factory true dual I love the Dynomax Ultraflo system. Dual 2.5 with UltraFlo SS mufflers and small glasspack resonators tucked in the quarters with stainless tips. Several years old and I added an x-pipe to it, the mufflers and resonators are probaly pretty well blown out but it is still mellow fairly quiet yet when I uncorked it I gained less than .1 which means it is doing it's job well despite being fairly quiet.
No cats on the car.
