Funny story or truth??
So at this a local car meet a group of kids walk up to my buddys car ('95 z) and ask what he runs. Before he can finish a kid tells us wearing a undercover police T-shirt his cousin has a 95 too that runs 12.9 from the factory. I tell him hes full of crap but he insists that its true and gets a lil pissy with us. Is there any package lt1 that could cut a 12.9 fully stock?
After that he went and raced their buddies mustangs and showed them the back bumper.

GM High-Tech squeezed a 12.9 out of a stock LS1 a while back, but from an LT1 it's almost impossible. On street tires I ran 13.4 at 104 with only a K&N FIPK, all else being stock including the muffler.

Sounds like the kid in Alabama who hangs around with a nephew up there. He owns an Eclipse turbo and swears he's runnin 11.90's in the 1/4 (pushin 370hp), but can't show me any timeslips.
I told him next time we're up there, he has to save up $200 and we're going to the track, heads up against my bone stock Formy (he went rather quiet after that!!).

Sounds like some fiction to me... I agree with the comment about everyone having a different definition of what stock is. Weight would get him there but, goddamn!!! You'd have to like gut everything and even turn the frame into a block of cheese with a hole saw... I just played with a 1/4 mile calculater and I used a RWHP of 280... It didn't dip below 13.0 until I got down to 3100lbs.
Now assuming the kid only weighs 140-150, that puts the vehicle weight at like 2950! That would mean chopping like 400-500lbs I'm guessing!!! oh well.... just having fun thinking about it.

everything is "stock" now a days.
but if its truly stock with all the restriction, a true street tire and a true stock exhaust with a M6 it anit gonna happen any LT1 guy knows that.

"Stock" is now a very opinionated description. Maybe he considers geared, gutted, and on slicks/skinnies stock Some will argue that it is.
Also, if he doesnt know any better he could have mixed up years and its an LS1 on drag radials. In the right conditions that can hit 12.9. We all can tell instantly, but the general public may not be able to even differentiate an LT1 from an LS1 camaro. Most I got out of my LT1 when it was "stock" was 13.9 in florida DA! It wasnt even bone stock factory - it had an ebay short ram intake, cat deleted(pipe), and flowbastard muffler welded onto the stock exhaust from the last owner. Not sure if that garbage helped or hurt, but it was all removed ASAP.
At least it sounded pretty nice

exhaust, cut out, custom cold air intake from Ace
pulling 14.1 on street tires.
