Not much difference in intakes HP wise. Moroso and K&N are good for the money. I refuse to buy anything that says SLP.

IMHO nothing is wrong with SLP, they are just WAY overpriced. You can get the same thing from some other company and pay less for it.

Anyway back to the CAI. The SLP CAI is a pia because it has 2 filters to stuff in the spot and it is much harder to take off and put on.

A quality, brand name cold air intake is going to run $180.
I have seen the SLP, Moroso, and K&N all for that price on various sites.

They are worth the money, unless you want to do the lid conversion.
I would get the Moroso, and not because I have it. Because it fits good, its plastic, not metal, and the quality is great. I got mine used for $100 and its been great.

With your mods BSGreenZ, you'll pick up 8-12 rwhp.

I have an ebay one and it works just fine and only fifty bucks. BTW I did not get the one with the elbow as the elbow blows.

You want to make something like that true cold air induction..cut the plastic out on the underside of the Car there, and make a little Scoop..
I cut out where my Fog Lights were, and the air is directed up the ducting in there and goes directly into the Lid setup I have.

i did something quite similar. i used a little vent that lets your electrical wires go out of your house and into your breaker box. mounted it upside down on the plastic piece under the c.a.i. filter and now i have a ram air scoop!! lol, it works too. gets the filter dirtier faster but its worth it for that couple extra hp right!

I like my slp but it is a pain to change the filters. Not too hard but in comparison to other cai it is a bother. I think it looks the best in the engine bay but that is me. It does get heat soak faster too though so that is another downside, oh and the price. way too high. It was my first mod years ago and I wanted to make it "pretty" so I opted for slp

Not trying to hijack, but is there any good in buying just an elbow or whatever, just piecing one together? I am cheap when it comes to my LT1, it is just a daily driver ya know.

I have the GMPP CAI. Same as the SLP but chrome, I have to agree that it's a bit of a pain to service but it's not like it's a weekly thing. I like mine and noticed a real nice gain when I did it. I've lately been pondering the LS1 lid conversion if it can be tastefully done. I don't know that there would be much gain but I'd like to try it.
