LS1 rear end?

LS1 rear end? Ok guys I am about to buy an LS1 rearend with 10000 miles on new internals, 59000 miles on the housing, an Auburn posi, GM gears, and it is a 3 channel. It came out of an auto 01 TA. I am also going to get the drive shaft. It doesn't have backing plates. What are backing plates? Should there be any complications installing the rearend? I don't have traction control (I think), so will there be any promblems there?

Just use the LT1 Rear Brakes on the new rear end. I just put a rear end in my 94 Formula and the new rearend didn't come with the backing plates either. The only thing you'll need to do is pull off the diff cover, take out the 8mm/ 5/16" bolt that holds the pin in the middle of the carrier, slide out the pin, and rotate the axles till you see the opening to remove the c-clips (you'll have to push the axles into the rearend- towards the carier about an inch or so to see the c-clips), then just take out the c clips and pull out the axles and then un-bolt the brake backing plates from the old rear end and do the same thing to the other rearend your getting. then once you bolt on the backing plates just re-install everything the way you took it all apart. I did my swap in 5 hours by myself on a lift and using air tools. The rearend isn't that heavy I could pick it up to put it on a heavy duty trash can so I could work on it on the lift...
