not sure about the summit brand gears, but I ran a Jeg's brand gear in my 9", I think it fit better on the carrier than the Motive gear I broke did!
very minimal gear noise when setup correctly too!

I was wondering about the quality of these gears too...i was gonna buy some from jegs but i saw summit had these for quite a bit less.I ran some cheap gears in another car i had with a 10 bolt and a ZZ4 crate engine.they where great....really took alot of abuse and very quite.think i paid about $160 for them.

I recently installed a set of these gears in my 94 along with a Zexel Torsen differential.
I went by the spec's on the gears and everything is nice and set up to the measurements they want. I have only got about 200 miles on them but I ran them through a few heat cycles and have launched the car from about 5,000rpm and they seem to work fine. Car took off really good too.
I notice a small humm now and again but its nothing major. I was expecting that anyways. I was told that i would probably have a slight hum with a jegs or summit brand gear set. Apparently richmond runs thier gears together from the factory to make them kinda start to wear together as the Summit or Jegs brands do not.
They are a matched set btw and so far i am really happy with them.

ok thanks, sounds like they might be a good enough set. anybody have any complaints at all? also, what is the best installation kit for the money? not necesarily the complete overhaul and installation kit, but just enough to to get the new gears in

Here are the part numbers i went with for my 94 camaro. I did 4.10's for the 3 series carrier and the summit rebuild kit.
If you have a 10 bolt and are going for 4.10's you will have to get like a dremel and kind of grind down the center pin so that it will clear the gear teeth. Or on a Zexel, grind down a small portion of the block for the same reason.
Part numbers : SUM-741015 Gears SUM-G7821 Install kit
Hope this helps!

Good luck, and take your time doing the install.
