Default Is it worth it? '96 TA for $4500

I know someone who has a '96 Trans Am with 96K miles for sale. It's white with leather interior, A4, t-tops, flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake, and American Racing rims... 17x9 up front and 17x11 in the back (they look exactly like C5 corvette rims). They are asking $4500 for the car and I was just wondering if the car is worth it. I don't know too much about the car, only little things. I personaly think the car is well worth the asking price, it's very nice inside and out. Who knows, I think I just might go ahead and pick it up this week/weekend. If I decide to get it, what would be the best performance mods that I can do to the car? Any free mods on these models? I've never owned a Trans Am before, only a '95 Camaro Z28.

first off a z28, trans am and formula are the same thing so going from a z28 to a trans am is just changing the body style, same motor trans rear end etc.

if the oil was changed and the car was maintain thats a steal. if i was you i would change all the fluids right away and do a tune up (plugs wires o2 sensors fuel filter etc.) and jsut a heads up around the 100k mile range the water pump is most likely to go out its easy to fix and not expensive, optispark is a possibility but they can last to abouth 130k miles and fuel pump if it didnt go out before but that means it time for a walbo 255 fuel pump. if it was me the car ran good seemed maintain i would go for it

free mods: descreening the maf sensor and throttle body bypass are the most common

as long as there are no hidden problems that sounds like a great deal for 96K, go for it!

Sounds good if it needs no work done on it. If it idles smooth and doesnt make noise and smoke i do it, see if they will take 4k in hand.

make sure to drive it, if its a manual, make sure the the clutch sticks good. a good way to check it is accelarating very fast , say from 3K-6k IN 1ST GEAR. make sure its okay with the owner first ofcourse. also take a look around the timing chain cover to ensure no oil leaks, also check for abnormal tire wear, could indicate needing an alignment. drive around for a bit with the windows up and radio off. listen for anything that sounds weird. listen to the motor, any ticking or knocking is a bad thing, do a very thurough check. Hope this all helped. Its a deal too btw.
