Default 2.5" or 3"

Okay so I'm researching everything I'm gonna need for my true duals but I'm not sure what size pipe to go with? Should I get 3" pipe or 2.5"? For now I'm stock but once I'm out of college most likely I'll get a 383 h/c rebuild. So what do you all think 2.5 or 3

i was told 2 and a quarter was more than enough for our motors if they are stock so thats what i went with. its probably not gonna make much of a difference as far as performance, but you might notice a sound difference

I am no expert but i have much experience with small blocks and have found 3" is preffered if going with big h/c setup. 2.5 is good though. 2.25 would work but if you plan on building the engine up later, do the exhaust once and do it right

Isn't that the truth, I'm about to change my exhaust for the 3rd time.

I've heard dual 2.5" is plenty flowing, that is would be comparable to a single 4".

true dual not single, a single 3" is good up to 450 so lets hope youre making more then that with h/c

I have a big Cam 402 Stroker, and I plan on goin 3" off the Headers Y'd into 4", then back. I don't have the the room for Duals, otherwise I would go dual 3".

you can run dual 3" then 2 mufflers and 2 dumps right before the rear axle. I ran the same system you describe, you have to have 450rwhp+ to be able to need that much exhaust, good luck.

dual 3", non-bullet mufflers (hate bullets), over the axle all the way out the back, love the note. no raspy ****, no tips, all black.
