700R4 took a nose dive
Well my trans (original parts) finally went out on me at 172,xxx miles two days ago. My tranny guys is in the process already of building a fully built trans, including shift kit, coolers, converter, the works. My question is, is that the largest stall he will put in my car right now is a 2500, due to my engine not being highly modified yet. He said with as many miles my engine has it will cause it to go out sooner than i plan for. But I am wondering if i will be happy with the 2500 stall. Is there anyone that has a stall around this size? He said that he will put larger in there but highly encourages me not to. I cannot complain with the price so it doesnt hurt to put it in there for now and then upgrade later. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on this matter.

well i owe 800 left on my previous loan for another vehicle. I am trying to finish paying it off and then buy me a daily driver, so i can pull the engine. Right now it is my only car. i am only paying like 150 for the stall. If i go any bigger i will have to wait for an extra week. I start a shutdown at my job next month on the 14 so i will be making plenty of money by then. But work is slow right now and really need the car. I was just kind of curious if anyone had place one this size in and what they thought about it. Thats for your imput ZONESB9RS

Sounds like the builder is stuck in the dark ages and is selling you some 12" restalled stock converter. Might even be a POS Dacco which costs him probably less than half what he is charging.
Engine wear is of little concern, the better AFR control of the injection in particular as well as all the other advances mean cylinders do not wear like they used too.
Really this guy is stuck in the dark ages and this is going to expensive in a year when the crap he put together falls apart.
The GOOD builders prefer to see 9.5" converters which are usually 2800+ stall, thing is something like an Edge is a good mix of quality and price and even those are over $500, thing is they really do work. They do not generate a lot of heat and are much lighter which is easier on things and frees up power too.

HAHA. well this guy is a a big ford guy. Races on the weekends and has pretty good runs. No it isnt a reworked one. He told me the name. I do know that htese are price parts, i have looked into them. He told me that it is a new company that he bought in bulk. So far he has no problems yet. It is covered for 3 years. I would like a bigger one personally, but my engine is about to go out. Im kind of worried if i do it now and that goes out on me before my newjob starts im SOL.
