According to what I read on this board, you want scavenging, not back pressure. Back pressure often produces a scavenging effect, however true scavenging helps with power as back pressure causes power loss.

No it doesn't. The tuned portion of the headers creates backpressure, but more importantly aids scavenging. The backpressure isn't the benefit to torque, it is the scavenging of exhaust gases from the engine.

Backpressure is the restriction the gasses encounter AFTER the headers, and is always a bad thing for both torque and horsepower.
