I'm building my 396 and was thinking of using a canton pan which one did you get (part number) so i don't get that one. Is it a stroker or stock size crank? I hope your turning it over by hand.

you are hitting the scraper. pull it off ,look for the marks. 2 chioces 1. grind on it with a dremel or something else. then take it apart and WASH it out. 2. take a hammer to it and bend the scrapper down. then take it apart and WASH it out. i had the same issue with my canton. then you will be fine

Wow had the same problem on my canton with a 383. I bought it because it was suppose to clear a stroker. I took the hammer to it.

The gasket also hits the crank. Its near the oil filter area. Sounds like it hits the pan but really the gasket.
