Oil pres drop at high rpm??

Oil pres drop at high rpm?? I just swapped cams in my 94 Z and also added a mechanical oil pres. gauge. I tapped in above the oil filter but what I've noticed is around 5-6000 rpm my pressure drops from about 60 down to 40ish, then the trans will shift which of coarse drops the rpm but the pressuse comes back up to around 60 or so and repeats the pres. drop. I know this is good pressure but don't understand why it drops off like that???
This car even has 160k miles on it for that kind of pressure I'm amazed.. Highway speeds is around 48-51 and at idle when hot it will drop to about 20-23 although I've seen it go as lowas 18-19.
