Well, if you do it, you might as well relocate the spark control module too, since it connects up to it. You won't gain anything as far as performance, but the coil/scm would last longer.

I'd think you have to mount it to a metal panel or somewhere that it can ground against the back of it. My ICM plug isn't long enough and I don't want to cut and sauder those wires back together. Then you'll have a longer coil wire to run as well. Just doesn't seem worth it.

most people just take the two studs off that holds on the icm/coil and just put the bracket on the outside of the nut instead of against the head.

I was JUST about to post this question up. Will the method mentioned above help reduce arcing to the head?

^^ that's the only write-up I've ever seen for this.

On a related note, I've attached two pictures that I took when I had everything apart during the wp replacement. What the crap is this little black thingey? It looks as if it's supposed to mount along with the coil somewhere, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, so I left it hanging, lol. Any suggestions?

im thinking about mounting it on the firewall. i have the OTVC wires so i can run the wire through the looms. i can extend the power wires easily. if i can get that head bare, ill get a plate made up like the LS1s have on their pass head.

I mounted mine on the back of the core support, directly across from the fusebox. I have an LS1 style air intake, so no CAI in the way. I right angle drill with some self drilling screws will get it done.

I always thought the coil wire was supposed to be as short as possible, therefore as close to the distributor as possible.

I spaced my ICM, otherwise known as the ICM cooling mod, it definitely doesnt get that hot anymore

I thought about relocating it to the fenderwell, but didnt want to extend the two harnesses (coil and icm)
