Default True Duals on 94 LT1 Bird

Well i have been randomly looking into getting true duals on my 94 trans am but had a few stupid questions if any of you guys have them out there..i know im gonna have to get long tubes, was thinking about going with pacesetters, but heres where it gets stupid...do you guys usually use a converter on there or how do you do that (legally) i'd love to get longtube pacesetters into flowmasters 40s dumped...so if any1 has pictures of something similar to this post them please!!

most people with True Duals dont run Cats so you cant do it legally with a 94, im pretty sure if you run cats your going to run into ground clearence problems

you could always get a high flow cat welded in, but most setups including mine just uses a high flow muffler, like a dynomax bullet or sweet thunders. A 40 series flow would sound good, but it wouldn't "FLOW"......look into the one chamber flowmasters for that flowmaster sound and a chit load of flow.

aren't 40 series pretty big? I think that would add to the clearance issue...

i hate to thread hijack but what about long tubes and strait pipes is that a good idea or should there be some type of back pressure ( nc doesnt need cats and doesnt even check for mufflers, i just got away with 5% tint )

You could could straight piping out the back, but it would be pretty loud. I don't think the added piping would help any in the backpressure area. The backpressure, if any at all, is built up from a restriction in flow, such as a cat or muffler. And from what I remember reading back in the day. Backpressure doesn't affect EFI cars near as much as carb'ed setups.

Duals are technically illegal whether you have cats or not. Same with LTs. If you just have to pass a sniffer but no visual you will probably still pass if you get headers with emissions hookups and put some cats in there somewhere. Like said above keep in mind that ground clearance could be an issue with cats. Heck even with the stock system one of the cats likes to scrape.

Since your car is a 1994 this is probably not a good idea. OBD1, at least in PA, have to be run during emissions and a sniffer is shoved up the exhaust pipe to read emission levels. If you do not drive your car more than 5000 miles/yr you can be emissions exempt, then have what ever exhaust you like. This is what I did.

if you can honestly get 40 series to fit please tell me how...i spent countless days trying myself...then decided to get an exhaust shop to do it...none could figure it out without sitting the exhaust ON the ground
