They use different sized primary pipes, difficult to explain. A search would yield results.

it is a smaller diameter tube and at some point in the primary it "steps" up to a larger diameter tube to increase exhaust gas speed and scavenging. not too many out there for the lt1 though. kooks is all that comes to mind??

these are the only stepped headers as far as i know on the market for the lt1 that arent custom made by somewhere like lemons. we can sit here all day and argue whether the gain is worth it. to me the effects are seen most in high horsepower cars where you need increased flow and scavenging. regardless they are the nicest lt1 header on the market

That spire, I can image would help with turbulence quite a bit. Looks cool

Has anyone ever used the spiral inserts for headers?

that piece in the collector is a nice piece of fabrication. i saw a guy do that when he built a set of equal length stainless headers for a 4.5liter lexus v8 in a 1980 corolla.

I run the Hedman Hussler LT1 stepped long tube competition header. 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" with 3 1/2" collectors.

didn't dynatech make or used to make a set for LT1 as well?

I bought a set of PeteZ built stepped off Z8s recently (deciding what to run for new exhaust)

I was always told that a stepped setup wasn't a good choice if you weren't making big hp, big inch, far-from-stock
