Sounds like you might not have any R134 in it, it has a pressure switch that will not let it come on if there is not freon in the system.

I think the HVAC controls are vacuume operated so you'll hear that "psh" sound regardless. I'd test the relays/fuses first, then look at the compressor. There should be a view port to check for freon somewhere on the low?|high? line?

if you have refrigerant in it and it still doesn't work...try to see if you have power going to the a/c...if you do and it still doesn't work check to see if you have the a/c malfunction code, and clear the code...that's what happened to my car...

ok well i added R 134A to it.. an aboyt 20 seconds into it it compressor kicked on.. but then another 20 seconds passed an it started smoking at the compressor? nasty smell. so i immeadiatly turned the car off.. let it sit. i figured i was out of oil. so i got some oil.. put some oil in it/ but it didnt seem to take much,, an i put some more freon in an.. no bueno? its not working now..

Hmm. Doesn't sound like the relay then (which btw, you'd just take it out and take a piece of wire and jump two of the terminals--the diagram on the relay would tell you which two). Sounds like compressor is shot. I have two sitting in the garage that worked when I took them out. I set them up with their holes plugged to keep debris from getting in them. PM if you're interested.

Sounds fried. The compressor might be seizing up.
