Default lt1 383 pre-tune dyno results

got about 5 pulls in on the dyno-jet. getting a tune probably this weekend. running on a bad ed wright tune with a jet stage 2 module piggy backed. (only way it would run for break in) so im pretty confident i have a long way to go. and my 255 et street radials were spinning all over the dyno. i had a loop in my hp/tq curves.

best of 370 rwhp, 390 rwtq. untuned, spinning on the dyno, through a 12 bolt. my goal for this project was 400whp, and im pretty confident i will hit that number n/a. now that i have good tires on, it pulls like a sonofabitch and rev's so quick i can hardly keep up with the gears.

If you get it tuned right you should pick up a good many hp. That cam in a stock car has put down over 360 with untouched heads. You are running the 230/236 right?

Very nice, who's doing the final tuning?

Wacha got inside the 383? (cammed I assume?)
If it's running that well with a bad tune it should easily clear 400 with a proper tune.
I picked up 26rwhp from a custom tune we did on the road to make it driveable VS the dyno tune I did in Tulsa.

If that's running "bad", I'm going to hate (see: love) to know what it makes when running GOOD!

fyi, that's not a custom grind, that's a regular comp XE cam.

yea i figured that was what it was. it was originally told to me a custom grind with the heads to match. but i picked the specs, so i guess they just shelfed me. it makes some good power though.

How the hell did you spin on a dyno with only 370rwhp?

good question. i was on 255 et street radials, edelbrock adjustable torque arm set at -3, umi lca's. had 4 straps on the rear and 2 in the front. hell, i was smoking the tires at 75 mph laying into the throttle easily. i think i should be able to hold now. i put on the 295 bfg dr's and it doesn't spin at 75 anymore.

its on video, check back shortly.

I spun a bit on the initial hit on the dyno...I only make 375ish on a Mustang dyno...We really had to cinch down the straps...

Good job and good numbers...You already make what I make and you're not done yet...Sounds like a nice set up...Good luck...

Nice numbers.

BTW I am not sure I would say the EW tune was bad so much as not fit your new combo

right on right on, let me put it like this. i paid them $400, sent them my specs and my computer, and when i got the computer back and put it in the car, it wouldn't even stay running. popping off like a shotgun, made about 2 hp at full throttle. it was garbage. and they wouldn't give me my money back.

Yeah that's the same cam i have. What are you pulling it to??? I'm on stock cast iron heads with beehive springs right now and it's got some valve float right about about 58 or so, but i've pulled it to 6300. It dont' feel like i've lost much low end at all with it either.

since its not tuned i made him stop at 6k, it makes good power right out of the hole, but around 2700-2800 it becomes a monster, and with the 4.11 gear it really moves the car nicely.

I love how the guy in your video sais"thats a heavy cam". You should have ported and polished the **** out of the heads and ran a cam with 240 246@ .050 and then hear what he has to say.(wasnt you saying that was it?)
