Default Make me feel better

Car- 1995 Caprice T56 4.56 355LT1

Cars been down for a while, got it back up and going and got it to the track for the first time.

My car ran a 8.995 @77.005 (1/8 mile) with a 2.03 60' with just an intake and exhaust on a basically stock motor last year. Well now i've got the built motor with the comp XE 230/236 cam and stock cast iron heads with springs. Well i took it to the track the other night for the first time, motor has about 500 miles on it or so. First two runs went 9.3 missing 2nd and 3rd gear with 2.18 60' both times. It seems my slave cylinder has cracked a little bit and isn't pressing the fork far enough down to let it engage smoothly or as fast as i need it to. Third run went 9.1 with a 2.17 60' granny shifting but when i went to park i heard something ticking, so i went and got some tools and took the valve cover off and a rocker arm basically fell off as soon as i touched it. My brother said he heard it in the staging lanes before we raced (he's got a 95 5.0, even with all my bad luck i still spanked it, lol). Got it back on, took it back to the track and as i was lined up on the tree on the track i heard it ticking again (brother didn't tighten the poly lock). Well i went ahead and gave it hell knowing i shouldn't have and it went 9.024 granny shifting again. Got it back and it was loose again and fell off when we took the valve cover off. Well i was kind of dissappointed in my times (Even though this was a different track than the 8.9 run, and people usually don't get good times here) but i started thinking about it, if the rocker is that loose, it's gotta be causing whatever valve that it's on not to be able to open or close properly and losing a lot of HP. And i could also tell on the last run that it just wasn't wanting to pull, and seemed like valve float to me (it's got valve float above 6000 anyhow) but it seemed worse this time.. Another thing is my 60 foots, i'm only able to dump the clutch at around 1500-2000 and it still wants to spin through 1st so i have to back out of it and let it grab and get back on it again. But then the motor, since everything in the rotating assembly is heavier than stock (scat crank, eagle h beam rods, JE forged pistons) it should be taking more hp to spin it than the stock stuff right??? But bascially all that has been done to car since the 8.9 run is a cam. On the two runs where i missed gears it trapped 78, and on the runs with the rocker coming off it also trapped 78. I just need some people to reassure me that my thinking is correct and when i get a new slavy clylinder, tires, rocker arms that'll stay on and a good dyno tune (have a mail order now but the car will still sometimes cut off when coming to a stop) that i'll be well into the 8's. Sorry it's so long guys, just needed to get it off my chest, lol. Thanx.
