Default Header Q's Need oppinons!

So Im looking at 2 headers (I have made up my mind already) but wanted to see what people said. The 2 choices are :

Pacesetter LT's (no Y uncoated, with header wrap)

OR

Rk1 Mid length (coated with coated Y)

Both are used but I was wondering what gains would be noticed from both, and which would be the better choice. In yalls oppinion.

Thanks

Any 1 3/4 Mid Length header will get you 90% of the performance a long tube header will on a bolt on car.

I went with the pacesetter Lt's uncoated. I read quite a few threads and even started my own about header choices and getting them coated or not. From what I understand the coating is mainly for looks, helps with some heat protection, but its still mainly for looks. The coating ends up getting scratched during installation usually, plus you have to get them coated once a year if not sooner because it burns off (according to some of the guys on here). X2 to what transamws6_97 said "go big or go home". Love my pacesetters long tubes, changed the exhaust tone and the entire feel of how the car runs. It ran surprisingly smoother once you get them on. By the way, you say your not gunna get the y-pipe if you get the lt's.... what are you going to do? I personally went and got a custom 3 inch made because i heard there were problems with the y hitting the floorboard. Sorry for the bit of a run-on but the lt's are not that more expensive than shortys and the gains are worth it all. LT's all the way.....

P.S. If this your first header swap.... which I'm assuming it is, just take your time and do everything right. Big thing is if i had to do mine again i would get some good wires but not put them on right away. 9 times outta 10 your gunna burn a wire. So just run the old ones for a couple weeks and when the car starts running like **** trace it down and put the new ones on and ZIP TIE that bitch out of the way.

Hmmm.

Coating's help reduce underhood temps, chanced of harming other parts/wires, and help make power. Cooler Air = More Power.
Whether or not this is measurable on a bolt on car is unknown.

Also, Pacesetter's coating is cheap and canny. They only coat the outside of the header.
You can buy painted Pacesetter LT's ($259) right from JetHot and have them coat them right there ($160). Then just buy the Ypipe seperate.

Thats about what Ive been hearing. The Long tubes just dont come with one (the deal I have worked out). I think Im going to do the mids, because its $80 more, coated, and has the Y. I wonder since its not Pacesetter if Ill get the rattle or banging of the y pipe.

Make sure they are 1 3/4 Mids.
And only get them if you don't plan on doing major mods in the future.
