ALot of people use conventional style small block heads and convert them to work on a LT1.

We have talked to everyone who knows about tranys and anything with synchros gets dicey at those rpms. Just too much twist for them to slow down. You can shift it real slow but not what you would want in a racing situation.

We ran mid-low tens Place in the Seattle International car show and won the Bonneville 100 120MPH class all in a few months time
