Default Head gaskets

Well right now i have some .0289 thickness gaskets for my build but im considering returning them for a set of stock thickness gaskets. I will be running 11:1 flat tops (with reliefs) and a cc306 on 93 octane with the supporting mods of course. What would you guys do?

What is your chamber size, and piston volume.

If everything is close to stock sizes (IE close to 54 cc chamber, -5 cc piston CI 350/355)
I'd stick with thinner than stock gaskets, in my opinion compression is your friend iot retain great street-ability with longer duration cams. I run .027 cometics and with my deck height and the rest of the combo it adds up to a 355 with that's a RCH over 12:1 compression and it runs on pump gas with out detonation!

What is your Piston to deck? That is usually my determining factor for choosing head gaskets lately LOL!

Mine is .006 so I was running Fel-Pro 1074s. Since I pushed one of those(my fault) I am now putting in Cometic .040s with a 4.040 bore compared to the 1074 4.125. I got to thinking about it and you can't get a reliable 4.120 bore out of a LT1 LOL!

Need to measure it or ask you builder what it is. You need it to know what your Piston to head clearance is. Piston to head clearance is your piston to deck clearance added to your crushed head gasket thickness.

I shoot for as close to a .045 piston to head clearance as I can get with out going under .035. I have ran down to .030 but always worried about it.

Once you know what you are dealing with then you can wiegh your gasket options and pick the correct gasket for your application
