High Flow cats?

Do they actually add any performance? Anyways, real question though is i have a 95 1 cat, if I throw on a generic high flow (it's free) will it throw codes?

I also have a 95. Last year it failed emissions... dead cat. There are times I really hate living in CA. Anyway I tried a Magnaflow high flow cat (OBD1 compatible, but used regularly for OBD2) and it passed easily. No codes and no particular gains (that you might feel) either.

High flow cats are usually more compact and have larger inlet and outlets. The only time you will gain from one, is when exhaust system is bottle-necked with a small cat and large tubing. No codes either.

I have two 3" metal substrate cats on mine. A typical ceramic substrate cats has 400 cells per inch, mine have 300 cells per inch. They cost a twice as much as ceramic though.
