2 questions about recently installed gears
Its ok to get on it once the car is in motion and the gears are locked in, but any shock from slamming at like a stop, the gas or kickin it sideways you want to keep to a minimum...
The longer and better you break them in will help determine how long they last and sound.
And btw,
I am thinking about doing the same thing, 2.73--> 3.73's.
How do they feel?

If you get your fluid changed when you put the new gears in, Im pretty sure you don't need to do it again.
the gears helped out quite a bit it felt like ti really helped 2nd out since u no around 40mph it falls on its face becasue it dosnet shift down...and i liked them but i also had an opti failin so it wasnt runnin great ....and in D at about ?70? (speedo way off) its around 3 grand it dosent shift to 4th it just stays in 3rd but there a good invesment
You are right, you dont need to, but if you were changeing the fluid to not only get new fluid in but to also check for metal shavings, it is not a bad idea....
You also dont have to change the engine oil every 3000 miles in some new cars, but people do....
