Planned LT1 mods. Suggestions?
Even my critics say that given the numbers my car puts down at the track it is making 390-410rwhp through the auto and the cam is smaller than the 847, actually closer to the 503 and the heads are middle of the line package from Advanced Induction.
To make power you need to get things right and that is where most people fail. They get caught up in marketing and BS slinging and lose sight of real results.

That's very logical thinking. It's also a very good idea. For the kind of power you want, build from the back and move forward. Meaning, rear => trans => motor. I don't follow my own advice there, because I'm not going to make that power, and I won't ever be running on anything stickier than a D.R. Does that mean things won't break? No. It means I am less likely to have trouble, but if I do, the car's gonna be out of commission for awhile.
For transmissions, just have yours "bulletproofed" by a good shop in your area. The Toy Shop out here in california will build your trans and give you a 365 day warranty, even if you race it 365 days straight. You break it, he fixes it and the warranty starts all over again. Cheaper than a whole new trans too.

I'd get the 9". If you're wanting to run a 100 shot and hit 500 HP now, you'll want more later. Not to mention I'll take added strength and protection over a few extra HPs. Have patience and build for the future young grasshopper.
