I looked at the auction. He's slick in that he doesn't show the cap at all. I think maybe showing the AC Delco label on the box was a bad idea. I think that would make him liable. He does however say on down that "Unit is produced by AC Delco Manufacturer." Not sure how this plays out in the legal realm. Looks like not a true AC. I would think one could forward this to Delco and let them deal with it.

i am lookin at the same auction and im am really thinkin of buying it and also it dosent show the ac delco name but it has the part number of the factory gm pn-10457702 so i dont think he can advertise the part number if its not actually that part

just buy the one from jegs, make sure to get the vented one for 279.99!!! Or youll be pissin in the wind. The only other option is to get the dynaspark, but I wouldnt because that company that makes it worked on my car. I will just say it wasnt the most pleasant experience doing business with them. Also I dont know how much longer he will be in business!

That's the one I bought. It is NOT a TRUE AC/Delco unit. I'll leave it at that.

i just got off the phone with the guy at this site and he said the opti spark is ac delco but the cap and rotor and there own parts and said that if you install it and it dosent work that you can send it back for a refund and the cap and rotor and not covered by the limited life time warranty and he said that the only way that it would malfunction is if it got water on it so im thinkin its not a bad buy for 200.00 even if it last 5-10 years

What good is the warranty when I thought it was the cap and rotor that went bad?

well if ur cap and rotor went bad i would send it back to them and see what they can do and even if ur cap and rotor go bad get a msd cap and rotor so then u will have a ac delco opti and a msd cap and rotor still under the price of gm performance parts opti and cap and rotor so i dont think it would be a bad purchase

Good, 'cause I'm sending the last one back! As far as it having a "lifetime" warranty, that's good and all, but it ain't paying for the time to change it out when it goes. If I were you, and again I'm speaking from experience, I'd spend the extra money and get the real AC/Delco one.

It shows an AC Delco label in the pic. I don't think he should be advertising like this unless the PN was for an AC optical portion. If I recall correctly, you can't buy the AC optical separately. How could he be buying opticals?

^^^ i dont no this is what im told and if it is the AC optical then it should say it on there and if not im sure he can get in trouble for puttin the part number for false advertising and if u look in a summit mad and look up gm performance its the same part number ...and dhdenny in ur sig is it sayin u swapped an ls1 in to ur 94 ?

and the gm one is 400 i could buy this one and put msd cap and rotor for 350 ...im not tryin to argue i apprecaite ur oppion cause all i want is a good opti but im just playin around with ideas i really dont want to do it twice

and i see nowhere in the guys sig that he has an ls1. He has a stroked lt1 to a 396 and is spraying it w/ nitrous and backing it up w/ an automatic transmission

Based upon experiences I have read - if you go aftermarket (any), including Ebay - be prepared to do the job more than once, if you don't its a bonus. I paid $150 and I'm lucky so far. You are gambling for the lower price.

Or double the cost - go GM - and increase your odds of a long term success.

There are GM parts sellers out there who regularly sell optis for less then the $280 Jegs wants. Dealer markup is often around 100% so there is A LOT of room for vendors to sell at way under typical pricing. I bet someone in the vendor list here will beat that price on a Delco unit.

Personally I have an over 80K mile stock opti base in my car, over half of that with the engine modified. Last spring when I did this heads and cam I put an MSD cap and rotor on. I have lost track of the exact miles but something over 12K miles on the MSD cap and rotor, maybe even 15K.

I think a lot of good parts get a bad reputation because of user error, the opti being one of them.

What type of situations do you have in mind when you say "user error". Are you referring to installation techniques - or incompatibilities with the car?
