center console How many of you guys have taken the center console out without removing the seats. The only guide I found involves removing the seats not really on my to do list. I bought a 02 console and am having trouble getting the old out. Can the upper section come off the console? Or should I just rip it out?

Yes the top seperates from the main peice and there are 2 bolts under there, normally one in the center and one under the dash. You should have 4 10mm bolts holding the console on those 2 under the top section plus 2 in the storage compartment of the console...

I put my parking brake up all the way. removed the 2 bolts in the center console storage thing. then i removed the 1 bolt behind the shifter, and it came out. oh yeah, and I unplugged the cigarette lighter.
Works for me too! Never ever crossed my mind to remove the seats.
I have never taken the seats out to do a center console, makes no sense and just adds work. You can get it in it easy with the seats in, the bolts are all inside the console it self.

Got it in there finally took out the pass. seat my E-brake just doesn't stand up high enough. Note this is before I got it all screwed down and the Park-1st set in there correctly.
