Default New LT1 Intake

Our shop is developing a new LT1 intake manifold based off of the LS1. If you guys have any opinions or suggestions, let them fly. We should have a prototype by early spring'08.

Possibly made from a composite plastic as well?

Good luck! Please post all new information.

if you make it and it has enough plenum volume for the n/a guys to make over 650 or 700 without the cost of sheetmetal would be great...if you could consider the difficulty of making it/cost while doing it and save money on final product is always good

also is this going to be composite also?

We are leaning towards composite. Just worried about it cracking from torque. But, yeah the edelbrock air crap is the main motivation behind this. 5hp for $400 is just insulting.

I mentioned awhile back if there was a way to make an LS1 intake style for the LT1!

+1 for it. +1 for composite to keep heat down.

However, it better be in the $400 range.

This would truly confuse so many people running this intake on an LTx LOL

I'm looking forwards to some concept pictures (sketches or real)

I just installed a victor-e carb intake and a nitrous daves elbow with the Lt1 throttle body and it all fit under the stock hood and not a ss hood either!

all I have to say its about time someone picked up this idea and ran with it.

Composite is a good choice for price heat transfer and strength

There's gotta be a way, to design a composite intake for an LT1, and not having to worry about it cracking from torque..GM did it with the LS1..Any similarities there, that you can see that would help you??

Is it going to have the long runners like the LTX intakes? And what shop is developing this? It has to be a big one to be able to spend $50+K on a mold.

I would not worry about any cracking since wilsons already has a comp intake for gen 1 motors.

one thing i would be concerned about is hot oil on the bottom of the composite manifold. the LSx has a valley cover that bolts to the block so no oil touches it(except the PCV oil which isnt much. other wise i would consider it
