Default Stall Converter

I'm basically new to stalls and what not so i have a little clue on what to get (thinking around 2400-3000 stall) but im sure there are others here who would know more on the subject. So heres my post.

What would be the best for a daily driver, i will be driving the car daily and don't want the constant jerking i hear some get from a higher stall...BUT i will be taking it to the track frequently....

So my question is...i want it to perform as best as possible and yet be somewhat nice to drive on the street for a cruiser.

The Car is a 95 pontiac trans am.
LT1
4L60-E
stage 1 (or 2) shift kit undecided right now.
slp headers
3inch magna flow cat back
lt4 knock module

the sooner the response the better

Thanks In advance

Curtis

go with a 3k and you'll be fine. you won't notice anything really different until you step on it. car will seem the same around town except you wont get into the powerband until a little later. i have a 3K in mine and i'd go even bigger without even giving it a second thought.

2800 to 3000 would be perfect for you.

I agree on the 2800-3000 but would like to add go with someone like Edge, Yank or Vigilante 9.5". Consider gears in the not too distant future, 3.73s are nice with an auto and make a converter drive even nicer.

3.73s will come shortly...but right now its transmission work that needs to be done...

thanks for the quick input guys, much appreciated....i think i will do the 3000. I was a little hesitant at first but if its just less power down low won't be much of a problem for me....

I have 3200 stall in my car with 2.73s. Its a little loose in town with the gears but man does she move when you hit the pedal. Getting a lockup converter is a plus. My gas milage hasn't even changed with this one.

I had a Yank SS 3600 in mine and ran the times in the sig.

Around town you could drive and the tranny would shift and keep the RPM's around 2K no prob.

Get at least a 3200 stall to make it worth the purchase. My car has one and it's street friendly and does OK at the track!

Just one thing to mention,

with 94/95 ODB1 PCM's if the Stall wall fix hasnt been put into the pcm, then the trans will freak out and put it into 3rd. My mild 2500/2800 stall used to do that.

As for stall range, something in the 3000-3500 is perfect, my old LT1 dyno graph shows the increase of 50 ft-lbs of tq from 2100-3100 rpms.
