Its just as expensive to modify the LT1 trans. I have checked and talked to alot of guys who have done the swap. From my research, its better to buy the LS1 trans. The LS1 bellhousing won't bolt up to the LT1 T56, also you have to change the imput shaft, and all the hydraulics(slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel, etc.). Thats why I found a used LS1 T56 for 1600 so i'm pouncin' on it. Also the LS1 motor i got was out of a 01 vette and i know the owner so its totally worth the 2K for me.

A list price from a dealership for a new LS1 T56 is 4500 dollars!!!! I called jason cromer and he could get me a brand new one at 3200, so finding one with 55K on it for 1600 is a pretty good deal. Also if the tranny needs to be rebuilt its only like 400 bucks or so, so i'm not so worried about the miles on the tranny.

Yeah i think i'm done with Ebay, ever since I bought a pair of used AFR's for 1800 bucks. They never showed up and the poor excuse for a human being that sold them to me was never found. The police in Florida "did all they could to find him" but never did. No me gusta EBAY!!!!!!

Maybe I'm getting a little off topic here, but I find it incredible that GM doesn't have a straight drop in crate motor for 93-97 LT1's. I understand that the LT1 has been "replaced" by the LS1, but you would think GM would still make it easier for the older F-Body crowd.
