Anyone running this supercharger? It seems like a nice deal for 2899. Anyone have any dyno numbers or track times from the 4.5 psi kit? should I wait and pick up a 3800 procharger for 8 psi? I am on a tight budget, so I figured running 4.5 psi would be safe while I build the motor and trans to handle more over the next few years...

 

many gave up on them years ago. much better choices

 

what would you guys recommend then for under 3500, i would love if somebody had a used one for sale, say around december, lol...

Might as well be. The belts seem to fail at a great rate on anything over 4.5 PSI on LT1s and they are NOT cheap.

Having had a blower before (ATI P600B) that for the money you want to spend get a good set of ported heads, cam, Headers and all the bolts ons you can.

If you think 125 is expensive for Kevlar Belt and New SKF Bearings then you should just do something else

I have a Powerdyne,but haven´t used it but i was told that they can´t support over 600hp

The stock belt is crap,so upgrade to Kevlar and get good SKF Bearings then you should be fine with 6+psi

But when you start to spin them fast the impeller shaft is likely to break(over 6psi stock engine),you can upgrade it but then the flow that the SC supports is the limiting factor

Get a used set of P1sc or D1sc,they are better and easyer to re-sell at similar price you got it for

 

One of the worst kits out there, hands down.

Anytime work has to be done on the car, the whole blower for the most part comes out and to tighten the belts are a MAJOR PITA.

We had one on a friends 95 Quazar Blue Formula, and it didnt even make much power.

 

I helped a friend of mine put a BD-11A headunit on his 95 5.0 Gt Mustang. He bought it as a used kit and screwed up his pulley math, he was shooting for 10-11psi on a stock motor with full exhaust and ended up making over 15psi I believe. He of course popped a head gasket but the blower didn't seem to mind making that much boost. He sold it to a guy who then resold it and its now being put on another 94 Gt. Point is, don't believe the internet BS about these blowers. If you want to get your foot in the door, they are a great little setup. Plus if you want to upgrade later, there is a regular gear driven head unit (can't remember the name off the top of my head) that will bolt in place. Try to find a cheap used one, my buddy got his kit for $650.

 

thanks for the responses guys....I think I am just going to keep saving and get a 58mm TB, 36# injectors, some nice heads, and a big custom grind cam down the road...for now, 3.73s, stall, tranny cooler, and dyno tune(need it to get rid of top speed limiter) will be within the next month...

 

How does everyone feel about the STS rear turbo setup?

 

I put a 4.5psi PD kit on my stock Formula back in '01 and made 340rwhp/372rwtq with no tuning at all and 230* coolant temps. As far as it being a PITA? I could have that entire blower off in 10 minutes and the entire kit off in 30. I pullied it up to 6psi and never dynoed it. Kit went on easy and everything fit just fine.

Nice kit as long as your not shooting for 600hp.

I wouldn't advise any boost on a stock shortblock.

 

STS kit gives ZERO ground clearance. Look under your car and picture a 2" intake pipe running right under your Kmember.

 

Haveing sent over a dozen back I can tell you it is more then $125 for the parts They seem to like to charge for shipping and labor and always some thing else just about ready to go out. I am no NEWBE to Powerdyne(over ten years) and I DID do some thing else that was much more dependable and fun

 

Well shame youre a little short because I have a Complete D1 Procharger kit that I am going to put on Ebay again soon. I had it on once and a guy promised me that he wanted it, said he had the cash so I canceled the bid, Well you know how that ended up. Anyway I have a complete kit, and when I say complete it is ready to bolt on any F-body LT1. Here what the kit consist of, I am going to try turbo this is why I am selling it, Has app 1800 miles on the unit.I had it for $4000.00 (cost me $6000.00) with all of the upgrades, I would take $3800.00

I have seen this kit on Moe's car and can vouch for him. Very nice stuff and put down some serious power!

 

Bad *** kit, especially for that price!

As for the powerdyne, I know of four people that have had them.
Thay all broke belts constantly and they have all upgraded to a Pro Charger D1sc or went back N/A
