Hey I have a little bit of a problem with the old Z latley. I have not driven it much but I was out in the garage today and I decided to pop the hood and check things out. I checked all my wires and they are all fine but #5. The header and wire are extremely close to each other and I put some protective wrap on the wire and the wrap melted to my PS headers. How would I go about getting that melted plastic off my #5 header tube? How would I go about pulling the wire back out of the way. I will get some pics shortly. All comments and suggestions are welcome and appericated greatly. Devin

HONESTLY.. that plastic tubing you are using is pointless.. why do i say that ? many many years ago when i got my car and did the first tune up i did not to "protect" the wire. it does nothing. What i've done is while under the car, i have used a ziptie to hold it closer to the head. I never had a problem after doing that. Here in FL 6 years ago or so when I decided to do FULL exhaust ( long tubes and 3" custom dual exhaust ) i did that. I just swapped everything again due to an optispark swap. When i pulled that wire off, i had no damage. Just get under the header and work some magic. it can be done. good luck. if you need specifics just PM me.

#5 has always been an issue for our cars with headers...Before I went with an OTVC set up I used to get a long wire and go up and over the valve cover and back down on to the plug. I used a rubber insulated metal clamp on one of the valve cover bolts as a loom and it worked fine for years...

Blk97z28- I told you on your thread when you posted pics of your header installation to make sure all your wires are away from the headers!!!

I know I know lol, I need to find another way to re-route the wire, could I get some plug wire cover stuff that I seen being used on the LS1's but make is long to cover the wire?

I used msd super conductors and accell heat sleaves. I then went under the car and used zip ties around oil dipstick to pull wire back from the headers. I hope this helps, I know how much of a pain that #5 wire can be. Good luck!
