You are spinning the motor for nothing, even yet go to the track, do a couple of runs to 7000 then start trying lower RPM shifts, 200 less at a time and see what your MPH is, That will tell you. Do not go by E.T. as there are too many anmolies that contribute to this. Good Luck!!
Yea...because even with the bad opti my power curve peaks up around 6700, take a look at the sheet, im not a dumb *** when it comes to knowing if the car is still pulling or not and graph shows that it still is...even when it had a bad opti.

I am curious, in the description you said you wanted the cam to beat the ground...how did that work for you...and how big of a stahl are you running with it? Or are you an M6?

You know "stahl", like Stahl headers. J/K, I'm sure he means STALL....Stall converter, high stall torque converter.

I have a 6 speed car, far as the idle sound, it really sounds great, beats a bit harder then a buddy of mines GM847 car but a lot of that has to do with loud *** borla and not really hearing the lope at idle. I really need to get a sound clip of it at idle, definitely my favorite mod by far this and my 4.10's

How are you running such a high rpm zlover. my car tachs out at 5800 and it seems like its not pulling anymore anyways. is your bottom end built? was it tuned to run super high rpm? and is the cam the reason you can run such a high rpm? im sorry for the clueless sounding q's but im fixing to rebuild my car and that cam seems to sound good for me. please give me some more detail about your car b/c it seems very impressive. i just figured if you run an lt1 over 6g's it would throw a rod for sure.

my motor is rebuilt but nothing aftermarket in the bottom end, just seems like this is where my cams loves to breath, its got plenty of low end as evident from my torque curve but it just keeps climbing. Its not the safest thing to do but i dont plan on leaving the bottom end stock for too much longer, plus it is pretty rare for me to spin it that high.

spin a bearing maybe, throw a rod no.

The stock shortblock is stout, the rods are sold aftermarket as good to 450-500hp which is concervative, and general consensus is they are weaker than the crank.

I have been keeping mine below 6400rpms, untouched stock shortblock except an oil pump spring replacement and an all metal oil pump driveshaft.

AI is Advanced Induction, they would be the only source.

The other two are Comp grinds, AI sells them as does just about everybody else.

I think I will be going with an AI cam this winter. From what I have heard and read custom grind is the way to go. Then I could get what will work with my car rather than something off shelf, that would be ok but not exactly what I need or want.

The thing with cams is almost all the off the shelf stuff is compromised knowing most guys will fall into the old "bigger is better" trap. They screw with the specs a little so that too much duration still drived OK. Long as it drives OK and makes more power than stock most guys will be happy. What they do not realize is how much power they are missing.

Wouldn't say everything he writes is the only right way but this will at least give you some idea of why custom can be better than off the shelf.

BTW guess who he uses for machine work?
