Default Cooling issues (urgent)

I have been having trouble with my car coming close to overheating for the past two days. It runs right around 180* when the car is moving or on the highway which is normal for my car. As soon as I am at a stop light or parked the temp. shoots up to about 215* or a little higher. The coolant level is right on target, oil looks fine (no coolant), no white smoke, both fans working and it seems to be running fine. When the temperature gets over 200* and I shut the car off, it will not start until it gets under 180*. I am really confused as to what the problem could be. Any suggestions as to what to do? The only thing I can think of is a blown head gasket, but it doesn't have many of the symptoms. Thanks guys

possibly the system needs to be bled or your water pump is taking a dump.

I bleed the system, and installed a 160* t-stat and all is well so far. I'm pretty sure my stock thermostat was sticking shut. thanks

Keep bleeding it, sometimes you need to do it 3-4 times before all the air gets out.

Remove the thermostat and see what happens, won't be the first time a new thermo. was bad!

Check that nothing got up under the front of the car and is blocking the rad. such as a plastic bag or something, then check the hoses, an old hose going bad could colaps when hot causing a restriction. Run the car with the cap off and make sure the coolant is flowing, this will also let you check the rad. cap is good.

When you can you should get a fan switch or get a tune to set your fans at a lower temp.

Yeah... im surprised no one told you the fans turn on a crazy high temp stock. 215* is still normal operating range. Though everyone gets a fan switch a keeps em cooler.

I doubt anything is wrong... I thought the same thing until i SEARCHED and read into it. I jumped the relay and it never got hot again.
