How to Rebuild Small-Block Chevy LT-1/LT-4 Engines by Mike Mavrigian. It's published by HPBooks. I'm in the process of reading it now and it seems to have pretty much everything.

I wasnt to happy with it. It had alot of good stuff for a stock build. But that was not the direction i wanted to go.

shortblock wise they are basically the same so you are trying to overcomplicate things which will not be a good thing come time to turn wrenches.

The LTx motors are a slight tweak of the old gen 1 stuff. The cooling circuit is different but the injection/ignition is the real big difference.

The heads are a big improvement over gen 1 production stuff but GM took what they learned with the iron LT1 heads and used it in standard coolant flow on the truck Vortec motors starting in 96 which are a gen 1 motor.
