Default Building motor

This summer I plan to build my motor...I plan on going with a forged 383 setup...however, right now, my car has almost 136k miles...Is it worth it to build on this shortblock? The car was put back to stock at 90k, so I am not sure which parts have less miles, but for sure the block has 136k. Could I start building off of this block, or am I better off looking for a new block and even possibly going LSx with it?

Another question, If I find a complete LS1 with all the wiring and PCM, what else do I need? Will it bolt to the LT1 4L60E trans or do I need the trans as well?

If you are goin to make a 383 out of that Block..it would be fine.

Personally, for the money, I would go to a LSX Engine..

I'm sorry to say, but you can't beat the power for the bolt-ons..

And the swap is not that bad, I'll find the thread that I have with the stuff that I did to get mine in.

i am serious considering an LSx, please find that thread if you can. do any of those companies offer financing? and is it your original 4L60E trans? I would like to do a 12 bolt and a stall converter this winter, but should I just wait on the converter if I need a new trans?

i guess mine would be a budget build...unless i can do financing...if i don't have to pay it all at once, i'd go ***** out...i basically want a nice setup with a lopey cam...my buddy is getting a 99-01 mustang GT soon, and he is looking at a roush suspension, beefed up trans, and a power package that ups rwhp by about 40-45, and 4.10 gears...could my car as it sits keep up, or what would it take to get to that point...does anyone have a clue as to how much power i could get out of ported heads, ported intake, and beefy cam on a stock cube LT1? i would go custom grind on the cam, and of course all supporting mods...

i just want to be able to laugh at him at the fact my car is 5-7 years older than his, and could still destroy him...12 bolt is a for sure thing, as I want my car to be able to handle any power I give it...i would like to go rear end, trans, and suspension this winter, and then go ***** out on performance this summer...I am not going to touch this trans though if it doesn't work on an LS1 and I go that route...

i know stock power in a LS1 is enough to kill a 10 bolt, but how much does it take in an LT1?

Age doesn't mean anything when people find out what is under your Hood..lol

Look what I got..it's a sleeper to the person that thinks it's a LT1, but to the ones that know what it is, they won't play with it..

true true...but if I keep the LT1, then it is 5-7 years, lol...he thinks with his power pack, etc. that he is gonna walk all over me, and then finish me off with a vortec supercharger down the road...I don't know, I would like the make the power N/A that he is going to make with the vortech, lol...
